In Carmel, we stayed at the Colonial Terrace Inn by the Sea. It was a very quaint place with an ocean view. We had a second story room with a cute little balcony overlooking the garden courtyard. Layla made friends with all the staff, although I'm not sure she made friends with our neighbors that night! The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we realized that the room did not have AC they brought us 2 fans to make sure we would all be comfortable. The room had a fireplace (although it wasn't necessary this night), and a Keurig coffee maker. It was cozy!
We took a quick walk down to the beach from our hotel before dinner. The view was breathtaking. There were people and dogs all around enjoying the sand and the water while the sun was setting. We wished we could have brought our dogs too. Layla was in Awe. Here was her first reaction to the Ocean:
Friday morning we woke up and went to breakfast at a cute place called The Tuck Box. It looked like a little german cottage. With full bellies we headed down to Point Lobos State Park for some hiking. We hiked up Whaler's Cove. It was about a 2 mile hike round trip. Layla slept in the ergo almost the whole way, so she missed out on some amazing views. It was a wonderful little trip with our little family.
